Islam is the last Divine religion sent to mankind through the last Rasul (Messenger) of Allah Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم.

'A”ishah رضى الله عنها reported that a person asked Allah's Apostle صلى الله عليه وسلم as to who amongst the people were the best. He said: Of the generation to which I belong, then of the second generation (generation adjacent to my generation), then of the third generation (generation adjacent to the second generation). Muslim, Book 31, Hadith 6159, 6150, 6151, 6153

Narrated Zahdam bin Mudrab: I heard ‘Imran bin Husain رضي الله عنه saying, "The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, 'The best people are those living in my generation, then those coming after them, and then those coming after (the second generation… Bukhari, Book 48, Hadith 819, 820; Book 57, Hadith 3; Book 78, Hadith 652, 686

The above mentioned Ahadith (Sayings of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) make its quite clear that Islam was practiced in its purest form by the first three generations of Muslims. Those three generations are called the Salaf as-Salihin (Pious Predecessors). The last Messenger of Allah Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم delivered the Qur-“an, the final Message of Allah (God Almighty) to mankind. It is the Ultimate Guidance for mankind. Besides the Holy Qur-“an, the last Messenger of Allah Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم left his Sunnah (Traditions) for additional guidance. Allah (God Almighty) has Commanded Muslims to follow His Book (The Qur-an) and the Sunnah (Traditions) of the Messenger of Allah Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم. Deviating from it and following anyone else other that Allah (God Almighty) and His last Messenger Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم will result in severe punishment from Allah (God Almighty).

… wama “atakumu alr-Rasulu fakhudhuhu wama nahakum ‘anhu faintahu waittaqu Allaha “inna Allaha Shadidu al ‘Iqabi …And whatsoever the Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) gives you, take it, and whatsoever He forbids you, abstain (from it) and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is Severe in punishment. Surah (Chapter) al-Hashr (The Gathering) 59:7

… فَلْيَحْذَرِ ٱلَّذِينَ يُخَالِفُونَ عَنْ أَمْرِهِۦٓ أَن تُصِيبَهُمْ فِتْنَةٌ أَوْ يُصِيبَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ …falyahdhari al-ladhina yukhalifuna ‘an “amrihi “an tusibahum fitnatun “aw yusibahum ‘adhabun “alimun …And let those who oppose the Messenger's (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) commandment (i.e. his Sunnah legal ways, orders, acts of worship, statements, etc.) (among the sects) beware, lest some Fitnah (disbelief, trials, afflictions, earthquakes, killing, overpowered by a tyrant, etc.) befall them or a painful torment be inflicted on them. Surah (Chapter) an-Nur (The Light) 24:63

It is a great sin to even think of the possibility of adding anything to the religion of Islam after it was perfected by Allah (God Almighty) and delivered to mankind by His last Messenger Muhammad

…al-yawma “akmaltu lakum dinakum wa-“atmamtu ‘alaykum ni’mati wa-raditu lakumu al-“Islama dinan… …This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My Favor upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion… Surah (Chapter) al-Ma”idah (The Table Spread with Food) 5:3

Despite these facts, true traditions of Islam have been diluted over the years. Many social and cultural traditions have seeped into Islam as a part of the religion. islamepedia is a humble effort to present the true picture of Islam to Muslims and non-Muslims alike.
